Our Story
Harvel High View Beef values hard work, determination, and tradition. We have been family owned and operated since 1984, when my grandfather Larry Harvel purchased this farm, though our history spans beyond that, as he grew up stacking hay bales in the same barn we use today. After his 50 plus years in cattle, he has grown to produce row crops alongside his children Jamie and Keith, as well as his grandsons, Nathan and Connor. We also have great farm employees that help us make all of this possible. As a Family, we hold our products to the highest standard - producing only the highest quality meat that we would feed our own family. We are proud to continue this tradition for generations to come. We believe it is important to know where your food comes from and who raises it.

History Of Our Farm
Our farm is located just south of Clay CIty, IL on the highest hill in the county, hence the name. But we are not the first to have cattle on this hill. The original homestead was built in 1864-66. Captain William Hopkins acquired his money when the Confederate Army blew up his tug boat on the Mississippi River, then in turn the Union paid him for his dues. The original house was also a safe house for runaway slaves in the Civil War era. The original house is gone now, but the original smokehouse and barn are still in operation. We take pride in keeping these great pieces of history in operation. We are also not the first to use the High View name. The original High View Angus farm was started in the 1950s by Charles Wraase. We cherish this history and respect those who came before us. We take pride in our efforts to continue this tradition.
